Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for his role in a Florida gun conspiracy, Rolling Stone reports.

The 22-year-old rising star, born Lontrell Donell Williams Jr., pleaded guilty in January to a single firearms conspiracy charge for his alleged involvement in a Miami robbery in October of 2020 that left one person shot in the buttocks. He was indicted in June 2021 on four related charges, including one with a possible life sentence, but three of the four were dropped earlier this year.

Considering that the plea deal that Williams Jr. reached with prosecutors, which could’ve allowed for a sentence of more than eight years, the rapper said he was “happy” with the courts decision, according to the report.

“Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well. He was satisfied with the outcome,” defense lawyer Bradford Cohen told Rolling Stone.

The Back in Blood rapper was given credit for the year already served in prison. Pooh could serve fewer than five years if also given credit for good behavior.
