Big Sean has announced the title of his long-awaited album, Detroit 2.

In honor of his 32nd birthday, the rapper released the news on Wednesday, accompanied by a trailer paying respect to his home state. “Detroit, to me is home. But I feel like its more than just a city. It’s for real mentality,” Sean says in the video.

Big Sean took it back home to gain inspiration from the music that impacted him as a kid, and to hang with friends. “It feels like a whole new energy in the city, you know,” he says.  “It’s inspiring to watch, to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It’s like the Phoenix rising out the ashes, you know.”

The trailer focuses on Detroit’s street scene, full of popular restaurants and hot spots, and also features Sean in the studio and in his neighborhood. The tracks played throughout the video may be samples from the album. Young Thug stops by the studio to lay some vocals on a track singing, “Ain’t nobody gonna do me dirty, oh no.”

Big Sean dropped his Detroit mixtape in 2012, with guest appearances from Jhené AikoKendrick LamarJ. ColeCommon.  Last year, he blessed us with “Overtime,” “Single Again,” and “Bezerk” with ASAP Ferg. Detroit 2 follows the success of 2017’s I Decided and Double or Nothing, and his 2011 Finally Famous debut.
