The-Dream is living the dream: He’s now a proud father of nine.
Last week, the veteran producer and songwriter welcomed a baby girl, named Élysées, with his wife Lalonne Martinez. Born May 6, the newborn is the couple’s fourth child together.
Wednesday, Martinez revealed on Instagram that her daughter arrived amid life-threatening circumstances. Born prematurely, Élysées only weighed three pounds when she was delivered.
“This birth was by far the hardest. May 6th, eight weeks before our scheduled delivery,” Martinez began her lengthy caption. “I had a placental abruption and underwent an emergency C-section. This was life or death for Élysées and I.”
She further explained, “I woke up in recovery, husband by my side. He said our baby girl was doing well and that was all I needed to hear! I lost a lot of blood but everything going on with me was white noise. My only concern was Élysées.”
According to Martinez, she had to receive five blood transfusions following the birth of her daughter and spent the rest of the week battling high blood pressure, body aches and a fever.
“Seeing the divine circumstances, that lined up and brought us to the hospital…it was apparent our baby girl was ready & supposed to make her grand entrance on this day & that she did!,” Martinez concluded.
In addition to his newborn, The-Dream has three children with ex-wife Nivea, a son with a woman named Lydia Nam, and a daughter with Christina Milian.
