YG hit the stage at Coachella on Sunday, and gifted fans with a few surprises during his performance.
Most notably, the Compton rapper opened his set with an extensive video tribute to his close friend and frequent collaborator Nipsey Hussle, who was gunned down on March 31. YG told the crowd he “couldn’t get out of bed,” as he struggled to come to terms with the heartbreaking loss.
Elsewhere during his performance, the rapper confirmed that his new album would be arriving on May 3. YG previously revealed that he had delayed the release of the project out of respect for Hussle.
“I was dropping a surprise album April 12th. Now that we gotta deal with Big bro goin to heaven I will not drop the album this month,” the “FDT” rapper tweeted earlier this month.
A deep cut off the forthcoming effort titled “Stop Snitchin” was also debuted during YG’s Coachella set.
The yet-to-be titled LP will serve as a follow up to 2018’s Stay Dangerous.
